The Manor House, in the quaint village of Marston Montgomery, Derbyshire, is a remarkable holiday home which is also a Grade II* listed residence, now providing luxury holiday accommodation for up to 12 people. The three-floor building is full of original character, both inside and out, and it offers an ideal base for a group holiday in the Peak District.
The history of The Manor House stretches back more than three centuries. Built in the late 1600s, during the Restoration of King Charles II, its distinctive timber-framed architecture, carved oak panelling, and grand 17th-century fireplace evoke the craftsmanship and optimism of post-Civil-War England.
The ground floor - equipped with underfloor heating - includes an open-plan kitchen/diner, traditionally decorated with exposed wooden beams, an eye-catching log store and a rustic woodburning stove within an inglenook fireplace. There is also a large sitting room with another wood-burning stove. The sitting room opens onto a seated area in the private garden with landscaped grounds, where there is an orchard - all open to guests.
Completing the ground floor is a double bedroom and a wet room, both of which are wheelchair accessible, making them ideal for those with limited mobility. (Please note the wet room is not en-suite.)
The first floor has four bedrooms, with a super-king-size and a family room sharing access to the family bathroom, alongside two double bedrooms each lovingly adorned with rustic wooden décor and exposed beams.
The sixth bedroom is on the second floor, another double bedroom beneath a vaulted ceiling, providing an intimate setting.
The family bedroom on the first floor and the second-floor bedroom both have two additional single beds, so in addition to 12 adults The Manor House can provide holiday accommodation for four extra children, giving a total occupancy of 16.
